Main Menu Options Blacked Out

The title and the attachment says it all. Any clue why?

I'm trying to run this on an i7 4790, 32 gigs of ram, generic SSD but the game is running from a Western Digital spinning hard disk, windows 10 home, with an ASUS ROG 1060 card with 6 gigs of ram. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. If I use the keyboard arrows, I get a sound that indicates the selected option is changing.

Any suggestions?
